I have been thinking ever since we put up the tree how to keep the kids to respect the ornaments and decorations on the tree. So, I decided to make our own ornaments and this could be The Grumbles Family Tradition for years to come. I have been wanting to have a tradition for our family, not one that I grew up with or Randy grew up with. I found one!!!! It was the cheapest, funniest way to spend time with the kids and teach them a lesson. The lesson was that they spent time making the ornaments and decorating them, hopefully, they would not destroy them or rip them off the tree. We had a blast making the dough, cutting the cookies out, and then waiting for them to cook, and then FINALLY decorating them. Reaganne and Taylor were very excited and could not wait to decorate them!!! Another lesson we learned was self control!!! The ornaments looked like the Sugar Cookies we make too!

Every five seconds, Taylor would say, "I am going to eat it!" I would say, "No, they are not edible, Bud! I will make you cookies you can eat tonight!" The kids had fun coloring the ornaments and we can't wait to hang them up tonight when Daddy gets home. ;)

.....Result....A Happy Family Making New Traditions and Memories.
It was really sweet, because when Reaganne was decorating her ornaments, she would keep saying to me, "Mommy, I love you!" So sweet, she was very happy that I was spending time with her and letting her have fun!!!! They even helped me clean up so I could make lunch!

We went to the park yesterday and I took some pics.

I love your new tradition! It meant a lot to Reaganne! You are a wonderful mom.
What a fun idea! I will have to try it with Ethan and Tristan...they will probably enjoy it just as much as your kiddos did!!
I thought of you when I ran across this blog post today.
